Spain

The Kingdom of Spain has a long history that includes the influences of a variety of peoples and cultures including the Celts, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Goths, and Moors. Each of these diverse peoples left their indelible stamp on the country, history, and heritage of Spain.
As one of the main cultural centers in Europe, Spain proudly boasts Flamenco dancing, bull fights, pristine landscapes, incredible food, and a warm people. The country is located on the Iberian Peninsula, sharing its border with Portugal to the west and France to the east. The Pyrenees Mountains provides a natural barrier between the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of Europe, while the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean provide a waterfront close to the Moroccan coast in Africa.
The country’s capital, Madrid, is located in the center of Spain and has served as the nation’s political and cultural center since the 1500s.
Spain and its people are well-known for their long traditions. Perhaps best known for Flamenco and bullfights (including the famed “Running of the Bulls” in Pamplona), Spain also enjoys a variety of fiestas and carnivals, intricate Moorish architecture, historical monuments, and picturesque villages and landscapes.
