Cambodia
The country of Cambodia is enjoying a new influx of tourism after many years of being among countries that travel agents and tour operators warned against. Today, this Buddhist nation is seeing a rebirth of its economy, politics, and culture, as new visitors to the area witness the spectacles the country has to offer.
Following the period of genocide and political turmoil from Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge (1975-1998), Cambodia had to resettle its nation and regain stability – an ongoing and successful process for the coalition government. But, this process shouldn’t scare away potential visitors. In fact, for anyone making the trip to Southeast Asia, Cambodia should be on the list of places to visit, especially for its famed Angkor Wat; its thriving capital, Phnom Penh; and its breathtaking landscapes.
